Which POS do we recommend for a restaurant or bar in Tenerife?
For a restaurant or bar in Tenerife, OK Computer recommends a hospitality POS running Glop or BDP, installed and maintained by a technician based on the island. Both include a table plan, Android handhelds for the dining room and terrace, kitchen and bar printers by section, bill splitting and end-of-day cash-up, and both comply with VeriFactu with the Canary Islands IGIC tax configured. Sysme is the third option when the business also sells counter products with scales or barcodes.
What makes the difference isn't the software but who installs it and who answers when it fails. OK Computer is the official distributor of Glop and BDP in Tenerife, has a physical shop in Armeñime (Adeje) and has spent 15 years installing POS systems in bars and restaurants in Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas, Arona and the rest of the island. The same team that installs it provides support afterwards, by phone, remotely or on site.
A complete hospitality POS is made up of the touchscreen with a receipt printer and cash drawer, one or more waiter handhelds, the kitchen printer, the venue's wired network and Wi-Fi and, if you want them, an automatic cash drawer and cameras above the till. Installing a POS with handhelds takes half a day, with your menu loaded before we arrive and staff training on the same day.

The law requires every receipt and invoice to be recorded with a chained code and a QR code that the Spanish Tax Agency can verify: from 1 January 2027 for companies and from 1 July 2027 for autónomos (the self-employed). Glop, BDP and Sysme already comply; what needs doing properly is the setup with the Canary Islands IGIC tax, and that's what we do.

Which POS is best for a bar or restaurant in Tenerife?
For most bars and restaurants we recommend Glop: table plan, Android handhelds, kitchen printers by section and fast cash-up. BDP fits when there's nightlife, ticketed entry or several venues to manage from one head office. Sysme is the option if you also sell counter products with scales or barcodes. All three comply with VeriFactu, and we install and maintain all three from our shop in Adeje.
How much does a restaurant POS cost?
It depends on what it includes: a touchscreen with printer and cash drawer, one or more handhelds, a kitchen printer, the software licence and, if you want it, an automatic cash drawer. That's why we don't publish a single price. Send us two or three photos of your venue on WhatsApp and we'll give you a rough figure the same day; the fixed quote with hardware, labour and IGIC comes after a 20-minute visit, free of charge in the south of Tenerife.
Do you install POS systems in Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Arona?
Yes. Our shop is in Armeñime (Adeje) and most of our bars and restaurants are between Costa Adeje, Los Cristianos, Playa de las Américas and Arona, but we install all over Tenerife. In the north we do the installation and set-up in the same trip. The call-out fee is €10 in Adeje, €20 in Arona, San Miguel de Abona, Granadilla, Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide, and €40 in the rest of the island; with Premium plans and above, the included visits carry no call-out fee.
How long does it take to install a POS with handhelds?
Half a day if the venue is ready. We load your menu and items before we arrive, and the morning is spent setting up the POS, handhelds and printers, testing every kitchen and bar ticket and training the team. We do it outside your busiest hours so service isn't interrupted.
Does the POS comply with VeriFactu and the Canary Islands IGIC tax?
Yes. Up-to-date versions of Glop, BDP and Sysme issue receipts with a QR code and chained records, and we configure them with the IGIC rate for each item. VeriFactu becomes mandatory on 1 January 2027 for companies and on 1 July 2027 for autónomos (the self-employed), according to the current timetable. It's best not to wait until the last quarter: in December every technician is in a rush.
What happens if the POS fails on a Saturday night?
It depends on your maintenance plan. The Gold plan includes weekend support, hardware replacement and unlimited visits; with Premium you get priority and a loan POS while we repair yours. And in any case we fit a UPS so the POS and printer keep running for an hour or two if the power goes.
Can I switch from my current POS without losing my menu and customers?
In most cases, yes: we export items, categories, prices and customers from your current software and load them into the new one before installation. We'll confirm once we see which software you use now.
Do the handhelds work on the terrace?
Yes, as long as the Wi-Fi reaches. That's why we check the venue's network during the visit: the POS and printers are wired, the handhelds use Wi-Fi, and customers are on a separate guest network that can't see your POS.
Can I have a QR digital menu connected to the POS?
Yes. We build the digital menu with a QR code and online ordering connected to the same software, so a price change only has to be made once.
Do you sell just the hardware if I already have the software?
Yes. We build custom setups: screen, printer, cash drawer or handheld separately. If you already have Glop, BDP or Sysme, we install it on the new hardware and migrate your data.
