VeriFactu: three months to go for companies. What to do in October

There are 92 days left until 1 January 2027, the date on which VeriFactu becomes mandatory for companies. The self-employed have until 1 July 2027. The rule (Royal Decree 1007/2023) requires the software that issues receipts and invoices to store each one chained to the previous one and to print it with a QR code that Hacienda can check.
Three months sounds like plenty, but it isn’t: December is the busiest month for hospitality and retail, and also the month when everyone calls their installer at once. Whatever gets sorted in October doesn’t have to compete with the Christmas dinners.
Five checks for this month
- Which software and which version do you have? Look at the “About” screen or at your supplier’s last invoice. Without that, nothing else can be answered.
- Has your manufacturer released the adapted version? Glop, BDP and Sysme already have. If you use something else, ask for the manufacturer’s declaration of compliance (declaración responsable).
- Can your hardware take the update? Many till computers are still fine after a tune-up; some are not.
- Is the IGIC rate right on every product? With VeriFactu an issued receipt can no longer be deleted: it is cancelled or corrected, and that stays on record. A wrong rate repeats on every sale.
- Do your staff know how to cancel and correct a receipt? It is the biggest day-to-day change, and worth practising before it counts.
What if my software isn’t going to be adapted?
Then it has to be replaced, and the sooner the better: moving the menu, the items and the customers from one program to another takes a few days of preparation. OK Computer extracts that data from the old software and loads it into the new one before installing it, so the changeover on site takes half a day.
